DEHRADUN, 4 Feb: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the 38th National Games, bringing added excitement to the multi-sport event. While there, he participated in a shooting activity, showcasing his passion for sports. He also took the time to assess the facilities and commended the organisers for providing a world-class experience for the athletes. The CM highlighted the significance of such events in fostering a sports culture and developing future champions. His presence invigorated the participants as the competition intensified with several important matches and finals underway.
The 38th National Games in Uttarakhand are in full swing, with Day 7 delivering exciting action across a variety of sports. Athletes from different states are competing fiercely, showcasing their skills in badminton, water polo, football, hockey, and more.
The water polo finals were filled with intense competition. In the men’s final, the Services team narrowly defeated Maharashtra, clinching a 10-9 victory. In the women’s final, Kerala successfully defended their title by overcoming Maharashtra 11-7. Kerala jumped to an early 3-0 lead, extended it to 6-3 at halftime, and maintained its control to secure the gold.
Football fans were treated to a dominant display by Odisha, who advanced to the women’s final with a convincing 5-1 win over Delhi in the semi-finals. Their impressive performance highlighted their strength and determination as they gear up for the title match.
In hockey, the men’s group stage matches saw Madhya Pradesh leading Manipur 2-0 in the second quarter. Meanwhile, the women’s hockey league matches began with Madhya Pradesh defeating Karnataka 4-1, West Bengal narrowly beating Odisha 1-0, and Jharkhand winning 2-0 against Uttarakhand.
As the National Games continue, the competition is intensifying, with athletes striving to bring glory to their states. With more thrilling matches on the horizon, the race for gold is heating up in Uttarakhand.
