Mussoorie, 1 Jan: On the occasion of the New Year, Mussoorie Municipal Council Chairperson Meera Saklani gave an important and welcome gift to the city residents. To further strengthen the sanitation system, the Municipal Council has contracted with the Lord Shiva organisation for door-to-door garbage collection in the city. In a programme held at the Municipal Council auditorium on Thursday, Chairperson Meera Saklani flagged off the organisation’s waste disposal vehicles. On this occasion, Chairperson Meera Saklani said that fulfilling the promises made to the public during the elections is her priority. In this regard, the three previously working organisations have been replaced with a new and experienced organisation to take the city’s sanitation system to new heights. She said that the employees working under the new organisation will be paid Rs 500 per day as per the announcement of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, which will boost the morale of the sanitation workers.
Municipal Executive Officer Gaurav Bhasin said that the Lord Shiva organisation has experience in modern works such as sanitation, road sweeping, public toilet operation, bioremediation, and biomethane in several states of the country. It is hoped that the organisation will strengthen the sanitation system in Mussoorie with its work style. He wished the city residents a Happy New Year and appealed to all citizens to cooperate in the sanitation system and play their part in keeping Mussoorie clean and beautiful. He informed that, currently, the waste will be disposed of by sending it to Dehradun, while in the coming time, a biomethane plant will be established in Mussoorie itself for local waste disposal. The organisation will work in coordination with the Municipal Council’s sanitation workers for door-to-door garbage collection, as well as in hotels, institutions, and neighbourhoods.
At the programme, Rishikant Yadav, President of the Lord Shiva organisation, said that better work will be done in the field of sanitation in Mussoorie, and within some time, a waste disposal system will be started using modern technologies.
