Oak Grove School wins Overall Trophy in Painting & Poetry Recitation Competition

Mussoorie, 15 Jul: A painting and poetry recitation competition was organised as part of the Harela festival in the auditorium of Mussoorie Municipal Council under the joint aegis of Mussoorie Traders’ Welfare Association and Robust World, here, today.

Oak Grove School won the overall trophy. As many as 64 students from 15 English and Hindi medium schools of Mussoorie participated in the competition. The students recited self-composed poems on the theme of the environment and nature in the poetry recitation. In the painting competition, the students gave the message through paintings about keeping nature and the environment beautiful and protected.

President of the Mussoorie Traders’ Welfare Association Rajat Agarwal said that, through Harela festival, all the people, young and old, have been connected to nature and about the work being done for its conservation. He said that the children gave a good performance and informed about the damage being done to the environment through various means and people were made aware to save the environment.

Robust World President Shubh Vishnoi said that a three-day programme is being organised in collaboration with Mussoorie Traders’ Welfare Association, in which the poem recitation and painting competition was the first. He said that along with making people aware about Harela, students have to be encouraged to save nature and the environment.

Oak Grove School won the Overall Trophy in the competition, while Kumkum Kumari of Oak Grove School got the first place in poem recitation, Payal Negi of Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir got the second place and Siddharth Pundir of Mussoorie Public School got the third. In the painting competition, Rajesh of Sambota Tibetan Inter College got first place, Abha Panwar of CJM Hampton Court got second place and Saima Ali of Mussoorie Public School got the third place.

Former Principal of MPG College Dr Sudhir Gairola, Sameer Shukla, Nidhi Bahuguna and Madhu Mehrotra were the judges in the poetry competition; while Dr Kavita Shukla was the judge in the painting competition. The competition was conducted by Shagun Vishnoi.

On this occasion, Sonal Agarwal, Atul Agarwal, Jogendra Kukreja, Jeetan, Salim Ahmed, Rajesh Sharma, Shiv Arora, etc., were also present.
