Dehradun, 19 Feb: Voicing his opinion about the much in the news incident related to bickering between Congress MLA Madan Singh Bisht and Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal, yesterday, inside the House, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami termed the behaviour of the opposition members during the Governor’s address as unfortunate.
Speaker Ritu Khanduri Bhushan also advised the members to maintain the decorum of the House and not indulge in such unrestrained behaviour.
The CM stated that such conduct is not part of the state’s culture. He emphasised that the House includes women MLAs, and the entire state keeps an eye on the proceedings. The CM was responding to a question asked in the Assembly regarding the opposition’s attitude. He said such arguments in the House are unfortunate because the House has dignity, which needs to be maintained and upheld. He insisted that both the ruling and opposition parties are responsible for running the House together and ensuring its proper conduct. Dhami also taunted the opposition, pointing out that they demand the duration of the House be extended but fail to utilise the existing time for discussion. He criticised the opposition for wasting time that should be spent on the state’s development by creating a ruckus and wasting the state’s resources.
Earlier, as the Question Hour began, the Opposition members started raising slogans and demanding an apology from Cabinet Minister Prem Chand Aggarwal over his alleged altercation in the House yesterday with Congress member Madan Singh Bisht. Congress MLA Pritam Singh asserted that the opposition would not concede to the government’s demands, citing the government’s arbitrary actions during the budget speech. He also added that the opposition would strongly raise its concerns during Question Hour.
Pritam Singh condemned the Parliamentary Affairs Minister’s spat with Congress MLA Madan Bisht, labelling the minister’s statement as “condemnable”. Singh asserted that the opposition could also accuse the minister and urged him to exercise restraint. He added that the opposition would strongly raise its concerns during Question Hour.
