Dehradun, 2 Nov: BJP today claimed that more than 25,000 people will participate in the padyatra and public meeting scheduled to be addressed by Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Dehradun on 6 Novermber. BJP state president and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt asserted that the turnout at the Dehradun programme would exceed the participation witnessed at the Opposition’s recent rally in Delhi.
Responding to media queries through a statement, Bhatt said the BJP is organising the nationwide ‘Loktantra Bachao, Arajakta Hatao’ campaign to expose what it describes as the reality of the Opposition’s negative politics before the public. As part of the campaign, major padyatras and public meetings are being organised at five locations across Uttarakhand.
He said a large padyatra and public gathering will be held at Parade Ground in Dehradun on 6 November and on this occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah will address the party workers and the supporters. Bhatt claimed that more than 25,000 BJP workers and supporters from Dehradun city, Rishikesh, Dehradun Rural and Haridwar district are expected to participate in the event.
Bhatt claimed there is widespread public anger against what he termed the Opposition’s false and negative politics. He also asserted that the party workers are showing unprecedented enthusiasm to hear the Union Home Minister’s guidance. Given the level of public response and organisational preparations, he asserted that the number of participants in the Dehradun padyatra would surpass the attendance mobilised by the Congress and other Opposition parties at their Delhi rally.
He said people across the country are witnessing and experiencing what he described as unprecedented development under the double-engine government. According to him, the public also understands that an Opposition frustrated by repeated electoral defeats is attempting to undermine democratic processes. Bhatt further claimed that, like the rest of the country, the people of Devbhoomi would be participating enthusiastically in the padyatras to support democracy and respond to what he described as anarchy-oriented politics.
The BJP leader said the campaign is receiving strong public support and expressed confidence that large-scale participation in the November 6 programme would further strengthen the party’s message among the people.
