Pithoragarh soon to get fully operational base hospital

Pithoragarh, 9 Feb: Health Secretary Dr R Rajesh Kumar, on a visit to Pithoragarh district, inspected the base hospital site, here, today. On this occasion, the Health Secretary said that, soon, the people of the border district would get the benefit of the base hospital as it will become fully operational.

Dr Kumar added that, at present, the Pithoragarh Medical College will be operated through the Medical Educational Department and doctors will be posted in the base hospital. This base hospital will be operated with the cooperation of Medical Education Department to begin with. He added that 100 additional beds would be added at the proposed base hospital.

He also directed the Peyjal Nigam to finalise the tender within a week and complete the remaining work on water supply at the earliest. The administration of the base hospital urged the Health Secretary to ensure posting of specialist doctors. In addition to this, a demand was also placed before the Health Secretary to provide facilities like ambulances and diagnostic equipment like X-ray and ultrasound, etc. Dr Kumar asked the medical officials of Pithoragarh to prepare a list of necessary equipment and make it available at the earliest. Principal of the Medical College, Pithoragarh, also urged the Health Secretary to ensure early transfer of 1.87 hectares of land of the Silk Department located nearby to the Medical College, as had been decided earlier by the state government.

Onsite inspection of the land selected for the Medical College Campus at Mostamanu was also done by the Health Secretary.

District Magistrate, Pithoragarh, Reena Joshi, Joint Director, Medical Education, Dr MK Pant, Principal, Medical College, Haldwani, Dr Arun Joshi, Principal, Medical College, Almora, Deputy District Magistrate Anurag Arya, and the Tehsildar, Pithoragarh, were among those present.
