PM Modi, CM Dhami announce relief for Tehri accident victims

Dehradun, 24 Apr: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the tragic vehicle accident in Tehri district and conveyed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. He has also announced financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, with Rs 2 lakhs each to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the injured.

At the same time, the state government has also declared support under the Uttarakhand Road Transport Accident Relief Rules, providing Rs 2 lakhs to the dependents of the deceased. In addition, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directed that Rs 3 lakhs each be given from the Chief Minister’s Discretionary Fund to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to those seriously injured.

Dhami stated that the government stands firmly with the affected families in this hour of grief and assured that every possible assistance will be extended. He instructed officials to ensure prompt and proper medical treatment for the injured and directed the district administration to remain in constant touch with the affected families and provide immediate relief.

It may be recalled that at least eight people were killed while two others were rescued after a vehicle met with a tragic accident on the Chamba–Koti road in Uttarakhand’s Tehri district yesterday. The mishap had occurred near Nail in the Chamba area when a Bolero Camper bearing registration number UK 09 TA 1799 lost control and plunged into a deep gorge while returning from Haridwar.
