Mussoorie, 10 Oct: Police have started a verification campaign for the people living in settlements and outskirts of the city along with the people working in guest houses and homestays here. The police force also conducted verification of people in Gaddi Khana and surrounding areas of Mussoorie, in which many homestays had not renewed their licences, and police verification of the people working there was also not done. The police issued a challan of Rs 10,000 against such homestay operators. Tenants living in houses or employees in shops need to get their police verification done, otherwise they would have to pay a fine.

Action is also being taken against tenants and hawkers living without verification. Verification is being done of those people who have come here temporarily from some other place to live or for a job. Police have run this campaign to stop increasing crimes. He said that policemen are checking the verification of tenants by visiting homes daily and employees coming from outside by visiting shops. If a house owner has not got the tenant verified, they have to pay a Rs 10 thousand fine.

Mussoorie Kotwal Arvind Chaudhary said that the police are constantly making people aware about verification. A verification campaign has been run in Mussoorie earlier also. Despite this, house owners have not verified their tenants and shopkeepers have not verified their employees. He said that verification is very important so that criminal activities can be stopped. He said that police have issued 20 challans.
