MUSSOORIE, 5 Nov: Police set up a chaupal here, today, and sought cooperation from people in the campaign to make Uttarakhand drug free. Along with information about crime control and traffic rules, the villagers were also told about various police apps. Mussoorie Police organised the event to spread awareness about drug addiction with the aim of ensuring maximum participation of the people living in Landour, Barlowganj.
It was stated that anantinarcotics team has been formed at the district level to take action against drug addiction. The number of the task force was circulated among the general public, on which any person can provide useful information regarding drug smugglers, the name of the person giving the information would be kept completely confidential. All the people present expressed their views and assured full cooperation to the police.
Mussoorie Police Incharge Shankar Singh Bisht said that it is everyone’s responsibility to make Devbhoomi drug free. Drug addiction is ruining the young generation. Even small children in villages are becoming addicted to smack. Due to intoxication, many types of crimes are also increasing in society. He said that the Uttarakhand Government has started a campaign to make Devbhoomi drug free by 2025. In this process, the police department is working to create awareness among the common people. He said that parents will especially have to get involved in this campaign by keeping a watch on their children. And also inform the police about those trading in drugs in rural areas.
