Dehradun, 24 Jun: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami attended the Tehravee rites of renowned shooter and Padma Shri awardee Jaspal Rana at Majhaun, Dehradun, today and paid homage to him.
Rajnath Singh offered floral tributes before the portrait of Jaspal Rana and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved family, praying for strength and courage in this hour of grief. Dhami also joined in offering respects to the late sports icon whose contribution to Indian shooting remains unparalleled.
On the occasion, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, Cabinet Ministers Saurabh Bahuguna, Khajan Das, Member of Parliament Mahesh Sharma, Ajay Bhatt, Sudhanshu Trivedi, MLA Pankaj Singh, Jaspal Rana’s family including his father Narayan Singh Rana and several others were also present.
It may be recalled that Rajnath Singh’s son, MLA Pankaj Singh, is married to the late Jaspal Rana’s sister Sushma Rana, who has also been a well-known shooter.
