Dehradun, 22 Jul: ‘Rashtriya Swayam Suraksha Sangh’, Uttarakhand, has declared its full support for the ongoing peaceful hunger strike and protest against the cutting of trees in the Bhaniyawala-Rishikesh Road area.
Dinesh Malik, National Vice President and Uttarakhand In-charge of the organisation, stated that, while the need for development cannot be denied, the cost of development should not be paid by destroying the natural heritage and environment.
State President Reshu Kumar Choudhary emphasised the importance of the environment, saying that trees are not just a part of nature. They are the foundation of life, water, air, and the safety of future generations. He demanded that environmental protection must be given the highest priority alongside road development.
The Sangh has appealed to the government and authorities concerned to seriously assess the environmental impact of the Rishikesh Road project; minimise the cutting of trees to the absolute lowest level, establish a dialogue with all stakeholders to find a middle ground.
The organisation clarified that this struggle is not against any individual or institution. It is a peaceful and democratic effort to protect nature and the rights of future generations.
During this announcement, organisation members including Niwas (State Vice President), Tarun Sirohi, Sudhir Baliyan, Sanjeev Sharma, Sanjeev Baliyan, Bhagwandas, Narendra Pal, and Amit Tiwari were present.
