Dehradun, 12 Jan: The fifth day of the 12-day capacity-building programme, jointly organised by Doon University and IIT Roorkee, and sponsored by ICSSR, New Delhi, focused on research methodology, academic writing, and literature review. The programme, aimed at enhancing participants’ academic and research skills, featured insightful sessions led by distinguished experts.
The morning session was conducted by Prof Vishal Sood from Central University, Himachal Pradesh, who emphasised the importance of impactful research that bridges the gap between “idea to impact” and “lab to land”. Prof Sood highlighted the significance of adopting the right research methodology and securing funding from various organisations. He provided an overview of key funding bodies, including ICSSR, ICCR, ICHR, and ICMR, and shared practical tips for emerging researchers to secure grants for their projects. The session was well-received, with course director Dr Sudhanshu Joshi extending gratitude to Prof Sood for his thought-provoking and impactful presentation.
In the afternoon session, Dr Sudhanshu Joshi from Doon University guided participants on conducting effective literature reviews. He introduced participants to systematic review techniques such as PRISMA, LSA, and bibliometric analysis. Dr Joshi emphasized the importance of these methods in creating a strong foundation for research projects.
The day’s sessions underscored the programme’s commitment to fostering research skills that drive social and academic impact. Dr Sudhanshu Joshi concluded the day by thanking the participants and resource persons for their enthusiastic participation, marking the end of another enriching day in the capacity-building programme.
