DEHRADUN, 6 Jan: The second day of the Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav, organized by the Department of Youth Welfare & PRD, witnessed spirited competitions, including group and solo folk dance, and story writing, featuring teams from various districts and open entries.
The highlight of the day was the Mega Rozgar Mela, held with the support of the Information Technology Development Agency (ITDA) and Sainik Kalyan Vibhag. Minister of Soldier Welfare, Ganesh Joshi, was the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, Joshi said, “The youth of Uttarakhand are some of the most capable and aspiring youth in the country. When it comes to serving in the Armed Forces, the youngsters from Uttarakhand have always been at the forefront and have brought laurels to the state. Whether it is NSA Ajit Doval, the first CDS Late Bipin Rawat, or the current CDS Anil Chauhan, Uttarakhandis have always been at the top.” He also extended his wishes to the youth present on the occasion for their bright future.
The Rozgar Mela attracted thousands of participants from across the State, with 22 pan-India companies offering opportunities. Out of these participants, a total of 145 candidates, comprising 61 girls and 84 boys, were selected and handed offer letters from different companies. Of these 145 selected candidates, 26 candidates belonged to ex-servicemen families, and out of these, 12 were handed offer letters by the Chief Guest Ganesh Joshi. These companies included Justdial, Adecco, Ebixcash, My Money Mantra, Paytm, Higher, Airtel, IGT Solutions, Urban Money, Ileads, HDFC Sales, College Bunch, Yuvashakti Foundation, Kutumbh HR Care, Sky Wings, Infosoft Technologies, Cogent, Satya Microcapital, Tech Mahindra, ITDA, and Siddhi Infonet India.
The day also witnessed an insightful session on the topic ‘Youth As Job Creators’, which was conducted for the aspiring youngsters present during the occasion. The session was conducted by HOD Geology, HNB Garhwal University Professor Mahendra Pratap Bisht.
During the day, an exciting Tug-of-War also took place between the exhibitors who have set up stalls at the exhibition.
The five-day festival boasts over 250 stalls by start-ups, youth groups, and self-help groups, showcasing handicrafts, textiles, millets, traditional & local food, and more.
Director of the Department of Youth Welfare & PRD, Jitendra Kumar Sonkar, mentioned that the Central Government assigned the theme ‘Youth As Job Creators’ for this year’s Youth Festival.
He added, “The programme will include performances by folk singers, discussions with expert youths, and various competitions like group and solo folk songs, dances, classical singing, and yoga practices. The winners of these competitions will be announced on the concluding day, i.e., 9 January, of the Uttarakhand Rajya Yuva Mahotsav.”
The second day of the Yuva Mahotsav concluded with a live band performance by the city-based all-women band ‘Womeniya’.
Also present on the occasion were Rajpur MLA Khajan Dass, Director of Sainik Kalyan Vibhag Brigadier Amrit Lal, BS Rawat, Additional Director RC Dimri, Joint Director Ajay Aggarwal, Deputy Directors Shakti Singh and SK Jairaj, and Assistant Directors Neeraj Gupta and Deepti Joshi.
