Dehradun, 12 Mar: A 150 member ‘paidal sangat’ reached the Guru Ram Rai Darbar here, this evening, from different parts of Punjab. As soon as the devotees on foot reached Darshani Gate at 5:30 p.m., they were welcomed with showering of flower petals and playing of the ‘dhol’ and ‘nagare’.

The devotees were welcomed by Mahant Devendra Das in a grand manner. He provided spiritual ‘darshan’ to the devotees and showered his blessings on them. The premises of Shri Darbar Sahib and the entire nearby areas echoed with the slogans of ‘Shri Guru Ram Rai Ji Maharaj’.

Chief Manager of the Darbar Sahib, Madhusudan Semwal reported that, just like every year, devotees have arrived on foot for the sacred festival of the Jhande Ji hoisting and fair from Punjab.

The devotees danced enthusiastically to the music.

The devotees were welcomed earlier at the Primary School, Kanwali. They were then welcomed by Mahant Devendra Das at the Darshani Gate, Darbar Sahib.

Students of Shri Guru Ram Rai Laxman Sanskrit College recited sacred Vedic Mantras to mark the welcome of the Sangat devotees.

With this, the process of arrival of ‘Sangat’ devotees at Shri Darbar Sahib from India and abroad has begun. As per the tradition of Shri Darbar Sahib, the Sangat devotees of the East will be given a farewell on 18 March. On Wednesday, 19 March, the Jhande Ji Mela will begin with the ascension of the holy flagpole.
