SBS University holds workshop on Osteopathy

DEHRADUN, 13 Feb: A workshop on Osteopathy Techniques was organised by the Department of Physiotherapy of Sardar Bhagwan Singh University, here, from 8 to 13 February. Eminent Osteopath and Internationally renowned Specialist Dr Steve Sanet (Founder, Osteopathy College of Ontario, Canada and guest faculty in over 42 countries) shared his extensive knowledge in the field of manual therapy and osteopathy with students and professionals attending the workshop from all over the country. Dr Steve emphasised that the prevalence of chronic pain and musculoskeletal conditions was on the rise due to changes in lifestyle, diet and dependency on technology causing decreased physical activity among the younger generation. During the week long workshop, Brainstorming sessions and Hands-On sessions on clinical conditions like Back pain, Migraine, Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Visual Impairments, etc., were taught.
SBS University has been conducting such workshops as part of its academic development colloquium every year by inviting eminent international speakers. This year, guest lectures were delivered by Dr Gian Peitro from Italy, Dr George Papas from Australia, Thomas and Naer from Germany.
On the occasion, the new Outpatient Building of the University was inaugurated by Dr Steve Sanet, today. Also present were Sardarni Harinder Pal Kaur, Chancellor of the University SP Singh, Secretary (GBSS) Dr GD Singh, Vice Chancellor Prof AK Sharma, Registrar Kishan Rawat, COE Urmi Chaurasia, Dean (Academics) Prof FC Garg, Dean (Student Welfare) Prof Manish Arora, Dean (R&D) Prof GS Randhawa, Dr Reena Kumari (HOD, Physiotherapy), Prof Veerma Ram (Director, Pharm. Science), Manager (Administration) Zorawar Singh, faculty and students.
