CM inaugurates district science museum in Pauri

Pauri, 15 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today inaugurated the Dr Ambedkar District Science Museum developed on Srinagar Road in Pauri Garhwal and also launched the Kandolia festival at the Ramleela ground. On this occasion, the CM also announced development projects worth Rs 110.55 crores for the district. He laid the foundation stone of 14 schemes and inaugurated 5 others, describing the day as a new chapter in the region’s progress.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami said that science museums are not merely exhibition spaces but centres of modern learning and innovation, where children can move beyond textbooks to understand scientific principles through experiments and interactive models. He toured the museum, observed the exhibits on space, energy, environment and technology and also interacted with the students who explained the displays. He emphasised that such initiatives play a vital role in nurturing curiosity, research spirit and scientific outlook among the younger generation.

At Kandolia temple, Dhami offered prayers for the prosperity of the people before inaugurating the Kandolia festival at the Ramleela ground. He declared the festival to be a state event and observed that it provides a strong platform to showcase Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage, folk traditions and young talent. He said the festival will now be developed under government patronage to give it wider recognition.

The CM stressed that the projects worth Rs 110 crores will strengthen infrastructure and bring positive change in people’s lives. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is advancing by combining development with heritage, with the Char Dham Yatra setting new records. He added that the government is committed to taking development to the remotest corners of the hills through initiatives such as House of Himalaya, One District–Two Products scheme, Millet Mission, new tourism and film policy, self-employment and homestay schemes.

Dhami also reiterated that the government has implemented the country’s strictest anti-cheating law to safeguard youth interests, ensuring over 33,000 government jobs in the past four years with complete transparency. He said protecting Uttarakhand’s Sanatan culture, original identity and social harmony remains a top priority, citing decisions such as the Uniform Civil Code, anti-conversion law, anti-riot law and stringent land laws.

Referring to projects in Pauri and Srinagar, he mentioned the state’s first NCC Academy, NIT campus, Ganga Culture Centre, Singtali bridge, widening of the Pauri–Srinagar Road, lake construction, driving test track and sports infrastructure, which will provide new direction to regional development and enhance employment and tourism opportunities.

Among those present on the occasion were MLAs Rajkumar Pori and Dalip Singh Rawat, District Panchayat Chairperson Rachna Butola, Municipal Chairperson Himani Negi, Block Pramukh Asmita Negi, Gau Seva Commission Chairperson Rajendra Anthwal, District Magistrate Pauri Swati Bhadoria, SSP Sarvesh Panwar, CDO Ashok Joshi and other public representatives and officials.
