Mussoorie, 8 Dec: Under the joint auspices of Uttarakhand Hotel and Restaurant Association and Mussoorie Hotel Association, Professor Shyam Kapri and Jitendra Chauhan of Graphic Era Hill University gave detailed information about online marketing and digitisation to hotel, resort and restaurant operators of Mussoorie. While explaining the methods of various digital and social media marketing, the operators were informed about the use of digital platforms for the promotion of their organisations. Describing the use of different social media through different mediums, Google and other search engines were also explained so that tourists can be attracted. The manner in which smart tourism should be developed was also discussed. They said that nowadays the government is continuously working on smart tourism, small homestays and guest houses have been opened in many areas of Uttarakhand, which is attracting a lot of tourists from the country and abroad. The restaurant operators should also use the digital platform to promote local produce and the dishes prepared from it, so that their business can grow. At present, tourists from India and abroad like to spend their holidays amidst natural beauty and beautiful environment. All the hotel and resort owners were advised to upload photographs of their area and photos of the institution on social media.

With homestays and guest houses having increased very fast in Uttarakhand and promoting their institutions through digital media, they are getting a lot of gain. They said that the participation of local people is also necessary for the development of any industry, which can be helped financially by connecting them with the hotel and restaurant industry. The tourism industry is being promoted under Smart Tourism in Europe under Public Private Partnership (PPP mode) and efforts are being made to use the same formula in Uttarakhand. If this system is implemented in Uttarakhand, it will help the tourists a lot and boost the tourism business.

Professor Jitendra Chauhan added that special attention is being paid to two things in digital media – how to reduce the expenditure on publicity and attract more people. Through digital platforms, the advertising can be broadcast all over the world.

State President of Uttarakhand Hotel and Restaurant Association Sandeep Sahni said that this initiative would be organised from time to time across the state.

Present on the occasion were Uttarakhand Hotel and Restaurant Association State President Sandeep Sahni, Ajay Bhargava, Harshada Bohra, GS Manchanda, Rajkumar Kanojia, Abhinav Karnwal, Angat Singh and many others.
