Dehradun, 30 Apr: St Joseph’s Academy, Dehradun, conducted its Investiture Ceremony (Middle and Senior School) for the academic session 2026–27 today in the School Auditorium. The ceremony marked a significant occasion when young leaders formally assumed their responsibilities with dignity and commitment. The Chief Guest was Abhinav Kumar, Director General, Intelligence & Security and Prison Administration & Correctional Services, Government of Uttarakhand. Principal, SJA, Brother Joseph M Joseph, Community Leader Brother Astinus Kujur, Brother Ebres and other dignitaries like Dr Deepa Rawat, wife of Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, Cabinet Minister of Uttarakhand, along with the parents of the newly elected cabinet members were also present.
The programme commenced with a prayer, invoking divine blessings for the newly elected council members. The Chief Guest, Abhinav Kumar, was formally introduced to the gathering. He is a distinguished officer of the 1996 batch with nearly three decades of exemplary service in law enforcement and governance.
The ceremonial lighting of the lamp symbolised the dispelling of ignorance and the ushering in of knowledge and responsibility which was followed by a Welcome Dance, setting a celebratory tone for the event.
The Middle School Investiture Ceremony witnessed a deeply proud and emotional moment as parents stepped forward to pin badges on their children, symbolising not only the conferment of responsibility but also the invaluable partnership between family and school in nurturing conscientious and capable leaders from classes VII and VIII.
The highlight of the ceremony was the Senior School Investiture, during which badges were conferred upon the council members by the Chief Guest along with the parents. The atmosphere was filled with pride as students of Classes XI and XII took the oath, pledging sincerity, dedication, and integrity in discharging their duties. The programme was further enriched by performances from the Torrins Band Vocalists and an engaging dance performance, adding vibrancy to the event.
In his address, the Chief Guest inspired the students with his words, emphasising discipline, leadership, and service to society. Drawing from his vast experience, he encouraged the young leaders to lead with courage and integrity.
The ceremony also included the felicitation of the Chief Guest, followed by the Address by the Principal, who congratulated the newly elected council and reminded them that leadership is rooted in responsibility and humility. He also spread awareness amongst children regarding social media, cyber-bullying and AI misuse. The event concluded with a heartfelt Vote of Thanks proposed by the Head Boy, Anubhav Sajwan and the Head Girl Vaishnavi Gupta, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries and participants. The gathering then stood united for the School Song and the National Anthem, bringing the ceremony to a dignified close.
