Dehradun, 2 Feb: The state’s Sports Minister, Rekha Arya, attended the final match of the men’s basketball competition at the Bhagirathi Indoor Hall, Maharana Pratap Sports Stadium, here, today.
The teams from Punjab and Tamil Nadu reached the finals of the men’s basketball event. In an exciting match, Punjab defeated Tamil Nadu to claim victory. Minister Rekha Arya watched the match for about an hour and a half, after which she distributed medals to the winning teams. In addition, the sports minister also awarded medals to the winners of the women’s basketball competition.
Later, Minister Rekha Arya presented medals to the winners of the squash competition at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in the Silver Jubilee Sports Complex, congratulating them on their victories.
On this occasion, the winning athletes shared that the facilities provided during the 38th National Games, which matched international standards, greatly assisted them in performing better. Sports Minister Rekha Arya stated that the continuous appreciation from the players for the event’s facilities shows that the government has successfully organised a grand 38th National Games.
