Sri Dev Suman University holds FDP on Integration of AI in Teaching and Research

Dehradun, 2 Sep: Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, in collaboration with Speaking Cube Online Mental Health Counselling Foundation and SPECS NGO, successfully organised a 12-day (24 hours) Online Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on the theme, “Integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Teaching and Research Methodologies”.

The primary objective of the programme was to promote the ethical and effective adoption of AI in higher education, while also equipping educators and researchers with the skills and knowledge to embrace emerging technological trends. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from leading academicians, faculty members, mental health professionals, and technology experts from across the country.

The FDP was inaugurated by Prof (Dr) NK Joshi, Vice Chancellor and Chief Patron of SDSUV. In his address, he emphasised the need for integrating AI into academic and research practices and lauded the efforts of the organising committee. He also encouraged similar innovative initiatives in the future.

Adding to the prestige of the event, Prof (Dr) MS Rawat, Director, Pt Lalit Mohan Sharma Campus, SDSUV, graced the event as Patron and shared valuable insights on the academic relevance of AI.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof (Dr) Deepika Chamoli Shahi, FDP Convenor, Founder and Director of Speaking Cube, and affiliated faculty with Southern New Hampshire University and Centleo University, USA. She outlined the objectives of the programme and welcomed all the participants.

Dr Brijmohan Sharma, FDP Advisor, highlighted the relevance of the theme and expressed gratitude to all participants and the Chief Patron. Prof (Dr) GK Dhingra, Director, Research & Development, SDSUV, stressed the significance of AI in research and commended the organisers for choosing a topic that aligns with current academic and technological needs. Prof (Dr) Rita Kumar, Senior Professor, Amity University Noida, and Advisor to Speaking Cube, conducted a session on National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. She emphasised the importance of preparing faculty to meet the unique learning needs of Generation Z students.

A session on Blended Learning was conducted by Prof (Dr) Harpreet Bhatia, Professor, Department of Psychology, Keshav Mahavidyalaya, University of Delhi. She offered practical and implementable suggestions for faculty to effectively adopt a hybrid teaching model.

The FDP concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Sneha Bhardwaj, Consultant Psychologist and HR Lead at Speaking Cube. She appreciated the collaboration and commitment of all stakeholders, including the Chief Patron, Patrons, expert speakers, and organizing committee members. She especially acknowledged the contributions of Prof (Dr) Rajesh Singh, Director of Research, Uttaranchal University, and Prof (Dr) Nidhi Verma, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychology, Amity University, Gurugram.
