DEHRADUN, 25 Oct: The Theme for the St Jude’s School Silver Jubilee Sports Day was ‘Celebration Time – Let us celebrate’. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Lt General G Kumar, Surveyor General, Survey of India, who declared the meet open. Also present were school Founder President, and Principal, St Thomas’ College, RV Gardner, St Jude’s Principal VR Gardner, MLA GIG Mann, Col AK Pundir, Principal, Constancia School, D Hilton, Principal, Hilton’s School, PS Kalra, Principal, Guru Nanak Academy and others. Students of Classes III – XII walked past holding banners and placards to the sound of ‘Power of the Dream’, depicting celebrations from 1994 to 2019. The Carnival depicted the changing fashions, festivals, achievements of ISRO, the models, aircraft and the students dressed thematically. Following this was the march past. Contributing to the Silver Jubilee celebration, classes III, IV & V joined in. A colourful PT display was put on by Class III. Holding props in their hands, students of classes IV & V held a drill to the tune of ‘Shine Like a Diamond’ by Rihaana. A Yoga display – ‘The Evolution of the Earth’- also took place. Races such as 100m, 200m, 4x100m and mixed shuttle relay took place. The invitational relay witnessed students of Carman School, Dalanwala, St Thomas’ College and Hilton’s School participating. A PT Display with multi-coloured Dupattas and Pom-Poms by Classes VI to VIII added to the splendour of the event. The strength of the participating teams was tested in the most energetic Tug-of- War. Khanna House and Howard House battled for the first place, in which Khanna House emerged powerful. This was followed by a Karate Display by students of Classes III – V. The acrobatic formation of tiers in the Inter-House Pyramid by the students left the spectators mesmerised. Howard House won the Pyramid Formation. The four houses then formed a Grand Pyramid. At the conclusion of the event, a Zumba presentation by the girls in their colourful attires regaled one and all. Students who had brought laurels to the School by their excellence and performances at the Inter School and District level ran on the track with a torch that was handed to Principal VR Gardner. The Prize Distribution followed. In the 4×100 Inter School Mixed Relay Race, St Jude’s School came first, followed by Carman School, Dalanwala. Khanna House proudly lifted the Athletics Cup with a massive tally of medals. The Chief Guest praised the children for their hard work. He wished them success and good luck for the future. The vote of thanks was proposed by Principal VR Gardner.
