Dehradun, 11 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated today that the Uttarakhand government is committed to promoting Ayurveda in the state. To this end, one model AYUSH village is being developed in each district, along with new yoga and wellness centres.
Addressing the release ceremony of the proceedings of the ‘10th World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo’ at a hotel in Old Rajpur on Monday, CM Dhami expressed pride that Uttarakhand successfully hosted the prestigious event. “We are now preserving its memories and achievements through the release of these proceedings,” he said. “This is not merely a document, but a repository of knowledge, experiences, and in-depth deliberations that will guide research, policymaking, and public health in the years to come.”

The CM noted that the Congress and Expo Mart helped send a strong message not only across India but also to other countries about how Ayurveda can help achieve optimal health. It also helped spread the eternal Hindu cultural message of ‘Sarve Santu Niramayah’ (May all be free from illness).
Praising Vigyan Bharati’s Vigyan Vidyarthi Manthan initiative, he said it fosters curiosity, research orientation, and innovation among youth, while also preparing them to be inquisitive, aware, and responsible citizens.
Highlighting Ayurveda’s unique and holistic approach, CM Dhami said it addresses not only physical ailments, but also internal disorders related to the mind and senses. “This is why Ayurveda’s acceptance is growing worldwide—it is humanity’s most valuable gift,” he remarked.
He pointed out that Uttarakhand, since ancient times, has been a land rich in Ayurvedic knowledge and medicinal resources, with its mountain regions offering herbs that have been crucial in establishing Ayurveda as a cornerstone of health. Such events, he added, are of immense importance for the state.
He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary leadership and the Ministry of AYUSH for giving this ancient science a new global identity. Central programmes like the National AYUSH Mission and Prakriti Parikshan Abhiyan are making a significant impact from cities to villages.
The state government, with the PM’s guidance and support, is actively promoting Ayurveda through initiatives such as:
Operating over 300 AYUSH-based Ayushman Arogya Kendras in the state.
Providing consultations from more than 70 specialists through the e-Sanjeevani portal.
Establishing 50-bed and 10-bed AYUSH hospitals in every district.
Developing one model AYUSH village in each district.
Implementing the Uttarakhand AYUSH Policy to boost medicine manufacturing, wellness, education, research, and medicinal plant cultivation.
Planning AYUSH teleconsultation services and setting up 50 new yoga and wellness centres in the coming years.
Requesting the Ministry of AYUSH to establish an All India Institute of Ayurveda in Uttarakhand, which would be a milestone in Ayurvedic education and research.
On the occasion, the CM released the AYUSH Department’s coffee table book, launched the Vigyan Vidyarthi Manthan competition poster, and honoured several individuals for their contributions to Ayurveda promotion.
Earlier, Dr Shiv Kumar, National Organising Secretary of Vigyan Bharati, presented a detailed outline of the event. A moment of silence was also observed in memory of those who lost their lives in the Dharali disaster.
The event was attended by Health Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, State Women’s Commission Chairperson Kusum Kandwal, RSS Prant Pracharak Dr Shailendra, Secretary Deependra Chaudhary, AYUSH Director Vijay Jogdande, Prof Anup Thakkar, Chandrashekhar Nayar, Dr VK Ashok, Prof KD Purohit, and several other dignitaries.
