‘Sugamya Yatra’ to be held Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities

Dehradun, 6 Feb: As per the directives received from the Joint Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Government of India, the ‘Sugamya Yatra’ is being organised across the country. This initiative aims to raise public awareness regarding the development, upliftment, and seamless accessibility of persons with disabilities in society. The yatra will commence nationwide on 7 February. During this journey, visits will be conducted to public places such as government buildings, municipal offices, community halls, tourist sites, libraries, and other key locations to assess and promote accessibility.

In Dehradun, the yatra will be jointly inaugurated by the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) and the Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, Uttarakhand. The flag-off ceremony will take place at NIEPVD on 7 February.

The Sugamya Yatra will continue for the next two to four days across the country, engaging in various activities that will contribute to raising awareness about the welfare and holistic development of persons with disabilities.

Both, persons with disabilities and the general public are encouraged to participate in this initiative and contribute to the success of this significant mission.
