Dehradun, 28 July: BJP’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan said today that the government’s preparation for disaster management is well-organised and the rescue teams are reaching every victim promptly.

Responding to the questions raised by Leader of Opposition Congress Yashpal Arya on disaster management, Chauhan said that, despite the difficult geographical conditions of the mountains, the management system is working well. He said that after the Toli landslide incident that occurred in the middle of the night, the rescue team had reached the spot and the rescue work also started well on time. Cheques for compensation and amounts for building construction have been handed over to the families of the deceased in the incident.

He said that CM Pushkar Singh Dhami is continuously monitoring the relief work. He is constantly taking updates from the local MLA and DM.  After the instructions of the CM, the minister in charge has visited the affected areas. Local MLAs and representatives are keeping an eye on the rescue activities along with the administration. The CM instructed the district administration to immediately identify other sensitive villages in the disaster affected area besides Tingarh village and shift the affected people to a safe place. Along with this, instructions have been given to make arrangements to keep the cattle and other domestic animals of the local residents at safe places and to run the relief and rescue operations effectively. This village has been temporarily shifted to the camp.

Chauhan said that teams of officials from agriculture, animal husbandry, health, revenue, horticulture, social welfare, cooperative departments have been formed for damage assessment/survey work of assets like public paths, agricultural land, roads, drinking water lines, electricity, etc., in disaster affected villages like Toli, Jakhana, Kot, Vishan, Thati Budhakedar, Pinswaad Urani, Agundha, Koti, etc. Action is being taken to restore power supply in these villages. Apart from this, the departments are engaged in supplying water and electricity in other villages where the supply was disrupted.

Taking a jibe, Chauhan said that two streams are working in the Congress claiming to be working for public welfare. One is on a pilgrimage to Kedarnath for political and tourism purposes and, the other stream, which is keeping distance from this pilgrimage, is focusing on the disaster. He said that instead of finding fault at the time of disaster, there is a need to heal the wounds of the victims together.
