Tehri Memorial Day-2025 organised by ‘Tehri Smriti Manch’

Dehradun, 31 Jul: The Tehri Memorial Day was organised on 30 July with great enthusiasm by the ‘Tehri Smriti Manch’. The objective of the event was to preserve the memory of Tehri’s historic displacement and to safeguard Tehri’s culture, folk literature, and public awareness.

The programme commenced with lighting of the ceremonial lamp and a traditional mangal song. Following this, the President of the Manch, Vinod Uniyal, presented the annual report of the organisation. She shared the activities, achievements, and future plans of the Manch, and expressed gratitude for the support extended by the community.

Subsequently, Virendra Parthi recited a poem, and Muniram Saklani shared his thoughts.

Neeta Kukreti moved the audience emotionally with her soulful musical performance.

The Chief Guest, Forest Minister Subodh Uniyal, stated, “Tehri is not just a city—it is a symbol of our roots.” He highlighted the pain of displacement and recognised it as a source of inspiration for public organisations and collective consciousness.

Special Guest Dehradun Mayor Saurabh Thapliyal remarked, “Passing on Tehri’s cultural legacy to the next generation is a responsibility we all share.” He appreciated the initiatives undertaken by the Manch.

The event was presided over by retired IG SS Kothiyal, who said, “The memory of Tehri and its spirit of struggle keeps the society alert and engaged.”

During the felicitation ceremony, Vijay Jardhari (Seed Conservation Movement), Dr Priyank Uniyal (Spine Surgeon), and Divine Green Power were honoured for their notable contributions.

A lucky draw followed, in which the President of the organisation, Chief Guest, Special Guest, and Programme Chair announced the winners of the first, second, third, and consolation prizes.

The event was successfully conducted by Prachi Juyal.

The programme concluded with the national anthem.
