Roorkee, 20 Aug: Quantum University took a dynamic approach to encouraging new professionals by hosting orientation sessions for MBA and BTech freshers from 5 to 17 August, recognising the significance of contemporary education. The university invited over 15 industry leaders and professionals from various fields to share their expertise with the incoming class of 2024. These sessions aimed to provide valuable knowledge and practical experiences to the freshers as they embark on their academic journey. The sessions were attended by prominent figures such as Sachin Phansikar, COO at Business Standard, Gunjesh Kumar, Relationship Manager at HDFC Bank, and Shyamal Chatterjee, Director at Tupperware, along with many others. Over 2500 students participated in the 13-day orientation.
Sachin Phansikar led a session on “How to Make Yourself a Brand”. Yash Pal, Plant Director at Recliners, Bhagwanpur, discussed “Team Dynamics & Organisational Culture”, while Vaibhav Gupta, Director of RT Solutions, provided tips on “How to Introduce & Express Yourself”. Additionally, University Alumnus Gunjesh Kumar, Relationship Manager at HDFC Bank, shared strategies on “How to Market Yourself”, and alumna Khushboo Ansari, Marketing/HR Manager, highlighted the “Role of HR in an Organisation.”
The orientation also featured Dr SC Handa, Professor (Retd) from IIT Roorkee, who spoke on “Time Management”. He said,” It’s about prioritising tasks, setting clear objectives, and maintaining a balance between work and leisure.” Varun Tiwari, CEO of Genesis, inspired the students with his talk on “How to be an Entrepreneur”. Shyamal Chatterjee, Director at Tupperware, shared his insights on the “Economics of Entrepreneurship”. Shivam Goyal, CEO of Presto Techpack, gave a compelling talk on “Industry to Academia”, while Ujjwal Thapa, Quality Head at Amardeep Designs India Pvt Ltd, emphasised the “Importance of Leadership in Professional Career”. Alumna Alka Bisht, Marketing Manager at Juice Beauty, UAE, concluded the series with her session on “Be Goal Oriented.”
During the BTech orientation, the University also brought in industry and academic specialists. The session featured Col Andrew Abraham VSM (Retd), Chief Strategist for APIC, a Pan India Foundation, who spoke on “Critical Thinking & Decision Making and Effective Communication”. Sushil Kumar Aggarwal, Chairman & Director at Avro India Limited, mentored the students on “How to Face Challenges”. Dr Srinivasarao Naik B, a Scientist at CBRI Roorkee, wrapped up the orientation with a session on “Sustainable Development Goals Towards R&D Practices”. He said, “As future professionals & researchers, it’s essential to integrate sustainable practices into your work to promote social and economic growth.”
Dr Vivek Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of Quantum University, shared his vision for student growth by emphasising the university’s goal to cultivate future leaders capable of making significant contributions to the professional world. He highlighted that the orientations are designed to provide students with the essential knowledge, skills, and motivation needed to excel in their careers.
