Dehradun, 13 Apr: Dehradun Police have announced an extensive traffic and diversion plan to manage movement of vehicles across the city in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Doon tomorrow. Modi is scheduled to enter Dehradun by road on the new elevated Wildlife Corridor which passes through the Rajaji National Park. He will enter the city after praying at Daat Kali Temple just across the old tunnel which connects Dehradun district with Saharanpur District. Once in Dehradun, he is due to hold a road show up to Mahindra Ground (Jaswant Ground) in Dehradun Cantt and formally inaugurate the 212 km long Delhi-Dehradun Expressway by pushing a button.
Along the road show, a human chain will be formed to welcome the PM. In view of this, major traffic diversions have been announced by the Doon Police.
For those residing in Dehradun or planning to travel to or through the city on 14 April, police have advised that all major routes will be subject to diversions and the motorists need to familiarise themselves with the revised arrangements. The traffic plan has been prepared for vehicles heading to the Prime Minister’s programme venue as well as for those transiting through the city.
For the human chain event, special diversions will be in force. Vehicles travelling from St Jude’s Chowk towards Haridwar and Rishikesh will be diverted via Shimla Bypass Tiraha and the ISBT service lane. Vehicles from St Jude’s Chowk towards Kamla Palace will be diverted through Patel Nagar Mandi, Lal Pul and Kargi Chowk.
Vehicles from Rispana and Kargi Chowk heading towards Clement Town will be diverted from Turner Road Tiraha via the ISBT service lane. Those travelling from Rispana and Kargi Chowk towards Naya Gaon will be routed via the ISBT service lane, Shimla Bypass Tiraha, St Jude’s Chowk and Mehuwala.
Vehicles coming from GMS Road towards ISBT will be diverted through Niranjanpur Mandi, Lal Pul and Kargi Chowk. Vehicles from Prince Chowk and Saharanpur Chowk towards ISBT will also be routed via Lal Pul and Kargi Chowk.
Traffic from Premnagar towards GMS Road will be diverted via Balliwala Underpass and Kanwali Road. Vehicles from Premnagar towards Doiwala, Rispana and Raipur will be routed via Ballupur Flyover. Traffic from Premnagar towards ISBT will move via Rangharwala Tiraha and Daru Chowk, then through Shimla Bypass Road and St Jude’s Chowk to ISBT.
Vehicles travelling from Rajpur Road and Clock Tower towards ISBT will be diverted via EC Road, Araghar, Dharampur and Rispana Bridge to Kargi Chowk and onward to ISBT. Vehicles heading from the city towards Saharanpur, Roorkee and Delhi will be routed via Shimla Bypass Tiraha, Naya Gaon Road and Dharamawala Chowk, continuing through Behat.
Vehicles bound for Chhutmalpur and Biharigarh will follow the same route via Shimla Bypass and Dharamawala Chowk towards Shakumbhari Devi. Vehicles arriving from Delhi, Saharanpur and Chhutmalpur towards Dehradun and Mussoorie will proceed via Behat, Dharamawala Chowk and Sidhniwala Tiraha towards Premnagar.
Vehicles travelling from Paonta Sahib, Vikasnagar, Chakrata and Sahaspur towards Haridwar and Kumaon will be routed from Herbertpur via Dharamawala Chowk and Behat towards Chhutmalpur, then onward to Saharanpur and Haridwar. Vehicles from these areas travelling towards Rishikesh and other hill destinations may continue on their usual routes.
Traffic from the hill districts and Kumaon towards Saharanpur will be diverted through Haridwar, Roorkee and Bhagwanpur. Vehicles from Mussoorie, Rajpur Road, EC Road and Clock Tower heading towards Paonta Sahib, Vikasnagar, Sahaspur, Selakui and Premnagar may proceed via their regular routes.
Vehicles from Clement Town and ISBT towards Saharanpur will be routed via Shimla Bypass Chowk, St Jude’s Chowk and Mehuwala towards Naya Gaon and Dharamawala Chowk. Traffic from Clement Town and ISBT towards Premnagar, Selakui and Vikasnagar will follow Shimla Bypass, St Jude’s Chowk and Mehuwala towards Premnagar and onward to Selakui and Vikasnagar.
Vehicles arriving from Purkul and Johri Gaon towards Cantt Road via Rajpur Road will be diverted from Mussoorie Diversion through Dilaram Chowk and Clock Tower. Vehicles coming from Circuit House Tiraha towards Cantt Road will be routed via Hathibarkala and Dilaram Chowk. Traffic from Cantt Chowk towards CSD Tiraha will be diverted via Dakra Bazaar, with one-way arrangements in force from Cantt to Post Office Tiraha. Vehicles from Bindal Cut towards CSD Tiraha will move via Kishan Nagar Chowk and Kaulagarh Chowk through Cantt and Dakra Bazaar. Traffic from Dilaram Chowk towards Cantt will be diverted via Clock Tower and Bindal.
The main diversion points for the Prime Minister’s programme will be St Jude’s Chowk, Kargi Chowk, Chowki Panditwari, Lal Pul, Balliwala Underpass, Circuit House Tiraha, Purkool, Johri Gaon Cut, Cantt Chowk, Doon School Tiraha, Post Office Tiraha, CSD Tiraha, Annexe Tiraha and ISBT.
Besides this, for the buses arriving for Modi’s rally, a traffic plan has also been announced. For buses arriving from Kumaon, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Doiwala, Dharampur and ISBT Dehradun, the designated route will be from Rispana Pul via Araghar Chowk and Cross Road to Darshan Lal Chowk, then through Clock Tower and Bindal Pul, passing The Doon School and onward to Akash Ganga Tiraha.
For buses coming from Chakrata, Vikasnagar, Sahaspur and Premnagar, vehicles will proceed from Premnagar Chowk to Ballupur Chowk, then via Bindal Pul, The Doon School and onward to Akash Ganga Tiraha. For buses arriving from Mussoorie and Rajpur Road, the route will run from Mussoorie Diversion via Great Value Chowk, Dilaram Chowk and Hathibarkala to Annexe Tiraha and then CSD Tiraha.
For buses coming from Thano, Raipur and Sahastradhara Road, the route will pass from Sahastradhara Crossing to Survey Chowk, onward to Dilaram Chowk and Hathibarkala, then via Annexe Tiraha to CSD Tiraha. Buses from Roorkee, Bhagwanpur and Asharodi will be routed from Jogiwala via Rispana, Araghar, Cross Road and Survey Chowk, continuing to Dilaram Chowk, Hathibarkala, Annexe Tiraha and finally CSD Tiraha.
