Dehradun, 25 Dec: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Atal Smriti Vyakhyaan Mala 2025 organised at Lekhak Gaon, Thano, here, today on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna awardee Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On this occasion, the CM also inaugurated the Atal Auditorium.

Paying floral tribute to the former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna awardee, Dhami reminded that it was Vajpayee who had granted statehood to the Devbhoomi of Uttarakhand. He observed that today’s event is a meaningful effort to convey Vajpayee’s thoughts, democratic values, and spirit of national devotion to the younger generation. He added that the entire life of the late leader remained a living symbol of patriotism, democratic decorum, and human values.

Dhami observed that Vajpayee, as a brilliant poet, gave voice to emotions through his words. He shared that it would always be a matter of pride for him that he received Vajpayee’s guidance and blessings in Lucknow during his student days as a worker of the ABVP. He stated that as Prime Minister, Vajpayee had paved the way for making India strong, prosperous, and self-reliant. From the Pokhran nuclear tests to the Golden Quadrilateral project and from the Gram Sadak Yojana to the telecommunications revolution, every decision taken by him gave a new direction to India. He proved that when the objective is national progress and upliftment, different parties can unite to run a government by successfully completing the full term of the country’s first coalition government. Vajpayee initiated a new work culture based on service, good governance, and the welfare of the poor, which played a vital role in connecting the person standing at the end of the queue to the mainstream.

Dhami asserted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the present NDA coalition government is working towards making India a strong, prosperous, capable and self-reliant nation. He claimed that efforts are being made towards building a developed and Atmanirbhar Bharat in a planned manner by creating special action plans for every sector. He emphasised that the dream of a self-reliant India is being realised through initiatives such as Startup India, Vocal for Local, Make in India, Skill India and Digital India. Dhami noted that projects like world-class expressways, ring roads, highways, and elevated roads are becoming the identity of a new India. Roads now connect 99 per cent of India’s villages and that 34 kilometres of highways are being constructed daily across the country.

The CM reiterated that Vajpayee had a very deep and affectionate bond with Uttarakhand as it was his government that performed the historic task of establishing the state to fulfil years of local aspirations.

Dhami further claimed that inspired by Vajpayee and under the leadership and guidance of Modi, the state government is working continuously to live up to the aspirations of the people. He stressed that the government has formulated numerous schemes for the welfare of every section of society and every region, from villages to cities, farmers to youth, women power to labour power and traders to employees and has worked to implement them effectively on the ground. He highlighted that the survey report of the Migration Prevention Commission has recorded a remarkable 44 per cent increase in reverse migration. The CM added that Uttarakhand has secured the first position across the country in increasing the income of farmers and has emerged as a leading state in providing employment opportunities to the youth. The state also achieved the first rank in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Index for 2023-24 released by NITI Aayog. Along with these achievements, several historic decisions have also been taken.

Also present during the event were former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Vidushi Nishank, Prem Budakoti, Suresh, Pradeep Sardhana, Savita Mohan, and other dignitaries.
