DEHRADUN, 28 Jun: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, attending the All India Oil Sector meet at the ONGC Community Centre in Dehradun here on Saturday, highlighted Uttarakhand’s ongoing commitment to green and sustainable energy. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister affirmed that under the leadership of Prime Minister Modi, the state government is aligning economy, ecology and technology to advance the green energy mission.
Dhami also stated that the Chief Minister Solar Self-Employment Scheme is a key initiative promoting clean energy across the state. He also cited major hydroelectric projects such as Tehri, Koteshwar, Pipalkoti, Lakhwar and Vishnugad as instrumental towards transforming Uttarakhand into an emerging energy hub. He also stressed upon the state’s proactive exploration of geothermal energy, given its abundant natural potential.
Emphasising the critical role natural resources play in nation-building, Dhami remarked that energy resources not only fulfil daily requirements but also underpin national development. He commended ONGC for being a cornerstone of India’s energy security, noting that it accounts for nearly 70 per cent of the country’s crude oil and 84 per cent of its natural gas production.
Dhami reiterated the national vision outlined by the Prime Minister for a self-reliant and developed India by 2047. He stressed that as part of this pursuit, petroleum reserves have been strengthened, and a significant emphasis has been placed on green hydrogen, solar power and other alternative energy sources. According to the Chief Minister, these efforts have fortified the country’s capabilities in the energy domain.
Speaking on broader developments in the oil and gas sector, Dhami said the ‘One Nation, One Grid’ initiative is expanding gas pipeline networks and easing distribution systems. Bio-CNG plants are being commissioned, and flagship schemes like Ujjwala Yojana have brought transformative changes to society. The nation has also undertaken proactive policy making and increased investment in international oil and gas ventures. Dhami acknowledged ONGC’s various initiatives in Uttarakhand and their beneficial impact on the state’s development.
Among those present on the occasion included Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh president Hiranmay Pandya, alongside Anupam, Gopal Joshi, Neeraj Sharma, Pawan Kumar, Devendra Bisht and Sumit Singhal.
