Uttarkashi, 29 Apr: The Uttarkashi district administration is ready to welcome pilgrims to Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams which are part of the Char Dham Yatra beginning tomorrow. The district administration claims to have made extensive preparations to ensure a smooth and comfortable experience for pilgrims visiting Gangotri and Yamunotri Dhams during the Char Dham Yatra 2025. This year, significant improvements have been made in parking facilities and sanitation, with smart toilet complexes established at eight locations.

A day before the commencement of the Yatra, District Magistrate Meherban Singh Bisht welcomed devotees and assured them that passenger amenities, including toilets, parking, and traffic management, have been prioritised to facilitate a seamless journey. Given the growing influx of pilgrims and the increasing vehicular pressure, efforts have been made to enhance the safety and accessibility of major routes.

Bisht shared that the parking infrastructure has been strengthened at key locations such as Kharsali, Jankichatti, Barkot, and Naugaon on the Yamunotri National Highway. On the Gangotri National Highway, surface parking has been expanded at Heena, while multi-storey parking facilities have been set up at Uttarkashi Headquarters and Gangotri. Additional surface parking sites have also been developed in areas like Ramlila Maidan, Joshiada, and Bandarkot.

He further shared that to ensure essential amenities for pilgrims, improvements have been made in electricity, water, and sanitation facilities along the travel routes. Modern toilets have been installed at Janakichatti, providing clean and convenient options for travellers. Additionally, eight smart toilet complexes have been put into operation along the pilgrimage path to maintain hygiene and ease of access for devotees.
