Vishva Samvad Kendra organises Holi Milan in Doon

Dehradun, 27 Feb: A Holi Milan event was organised at Vishva Samvad Kendra, Narayan Muni Bhavan here, today, in which a large number of media persons participated. The programme emerged not merely as a traditional festive gathering but as a meaningful platform fostering constructive dialogue between media, society and cultural consciousness.

The event witnessed notable participation from journalists associated with the print media, electronic media, digital platforms, social media and various national and local news agencies, lending the programme wide representation and intellectual depth.

The proceedings were conducted in a composed and effective manner by Gajendra Khanduri, Publicity Head of the Centre. The cultural segment was compered by Ravi Vyas and Ajay Joshi, who through their melodious and evocative renditions brought alive the festive spirit of Holi deeply rooted in Indian folk traditions.

The Chief Guest on the occasion was Mahamandaleshwar Swami Ram Muni Maharaj, who had arrived from Bhimgoda, Haridwar. In his address, Ram Muni Maharaj elaborated upon the mythological, philosophical and cultural dimensions of Holi. He stated that the festival of Holi is not merely a celebration of colours but also a symbol of the burning of ego, the dissolution of social discrimination and the awakening of creative renewal. He observed that, in Indian tradition, festivals serve as mediums for social dialogue and the renewal of human relationships.

The literary presentations added a special dimension to the programme.

Poet Shrikant Shri infused the atmosphere with festivity and emotional warmth through his poems and Holi songs, while young poet of Veer Ras, Dushyant, recited an energetic composition based on Lord Shiva, reflecting the philosophical balance of creation and destruction, thereby inspiring both contemplation and enthusiasm among the audience.

Among those present were senior poet and journalist Virendra Dangwal, senior journalist Dr Vinod Pokhariyal, Virendra Bhardwaj, Ashwini Tripathi and Rajesh Bartwal from Dainik Jagran, Shesh Mani Shukla, Editor of Punjab Kesari, and Thakur Arvind Singh, Prithvi Raj Singh from UNI, Dhirendra Singh and Sanchit Sharma from News 24×7, Dhanraj Garg, Virendra Thapliyal, Rajesh Pandey from Hindustan, Hitesh Tyagi from India Voice, senior journalist Lakshmi Bisht, and Sumit Rawat and Shubham Kotnala from India News, along with several other senior journalists.

In addition, Sachin Sharma, Vivek Verma, Krishna Kumar, Monu Rajput, Madhuri Bhatt, Anil Joshi, Harishankar Saini, Rashmi Khatri, Sonu Singh, Madan Singh, Ravindra Palwal, Dr VB Sharma and Jyotsna, among many other journalists, graced the occasion and enhanced its dignity through their presence. Participants enjoyed the cultural performances along with traditional festive delicacies including gujiya and a collective feast, symbolising the warmth and inclusivity of Indian festive traditions.

The programme was also attended by senior functionaries of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, including Lakshmi Prasad Jaiswal, Neeraj Mittal, Surendra Mittal and North Mahanagar Sanghchalak Veermaditya. Vinod Uniyal, Mayor of Dehradun Saurabh Thapliyal and Chairman of the Uttarakhand Bar Council, Advocate Rakesh Gupta, were also present on the occasion.

Prant Prachar Pramukh Sanjay expressed gratitude to the assembled journalists and social workers. He stated that in a democracy, the media is not merely a channel of information but a carrier of social consciousness and direction. He described such gatherings as significant initiatives that strengthen dialogue, trust and positive social participation, and extended his greetings on the occasion of Holi to all those present.
