Dehradun, 26 Oct: Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar reached the GTC Helipad in Dehradun here today on a two-day visit to Uttarakhand. Dr Sudesh Dhankhar also accompanied him.
At the Helipad, he was welcomed by Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) and the First Lady, Gurmeet Kaur.
Cabinet Minister Rekha Arya, Haridwar MP and former Chief Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank, Tehri MP Mala Rajya Lakshmi Shah, Rajya Sabha MPs Naresh Bansal and Dr Kalpana Saini, Chief Secretary Dr SS Sandhu, DGP Ashok Kumar and other dignitaries also welcomed the President.
Later, Dhankhar left for Gangotri where he was scheduled to offer prayers. On his arrival at Gangotri, he and his family members were welcomed by the Teerth Purohits, the temple committee officials, other administrative officials. He was accompanied by Governor Gurmit Singh on the occasion. At the temple he had darshan at the temple and offered prayers. He also spent time on the banks of Ganga on the occasion.
Tomorrow, he will also visit Kedarnath and Badrinath and offer prayers there before returning to Dehradun, where he will address the closing ceremony of the CLI meeting at FRI Dehradun.
