DEHRADUN, 24 Jan: Union Minister Thawar Chand Gehlot, the BJP official in-charge of Uttarakhand, said today that the setting-getting formula would not work in obtaining party tickets for the coming Lok Sabha elections. Only winning candidates would be selected. There would be no age limit in this regard.
The Minister was interacting with journalists during his visit to NIVH, here, today. He revealed that the BJP had begun preparing its strategy for the Lok Sabha polls four months ago. He expressed confidence that, with NDA allies, the BJP would form the government again with more seats than in 2014.
The party’s mantra was ‘win the booth and the election’. Important responsibilities have been allocated for this. A mood in favour of PM Modi had already begun to be prepared in the states. He also came down hard on the loan waiver promises made in MP and Rajasthan. These had proved to entirely false, he declared.
Commenting on the recently legislated ten percent reservations for the economically weak among the general category, he said the effort was now on to increase government jobs by that number.
