DEHRADUN, 20, Apr: In the final matches of the Doon Cup Football Tournament 2019 played at Ecole Globale International Girls’ School played here, today, Woodstock School, Mussoorie, lifted the trophy in the under-19 category, defeating Gems Modern Academy, Dubai, 4-1. In the Under -14 category, Andro School – A, Manipur, defeated Andro School -B, 2-1. In the three day football tournament, 9 teams in under 19 category and 7 teams in under 14 category played league matches in their respective categories. A team got 3 points on winning the match, zero points on losing, as per the Round Robin League rules. In the Under-19 category, Woodstock School won 8 matches and got 24 points, while Gems Modern Academy, Dubai, won 6 matches and got 18 points. In the final match, Woodstock School defeated Gems Modern Academy, Dubai, 4-1. In the Under-14 category, Andro School, Manipur, Team- A won 7 matches and got 21 points, where Andro School – B team won 6 matches and got 18 points. In the final, Andro School – A defeated Andro School -B by 2-1. The Fair Play Trophy was awarded to Ecole Globale School, Dehradun. During the award ceremony, in the under 14 category, the Best Goal Keeper award was given to Anshika from Himjyoti School, Dehradun. The Best Defender Award went to Tombi of Andro School, Manipur. The Best Mid-Fielder Award went to Arna Singh. The Best Attacker was Anjali from Andro School, Manipur. Teams from Ecole Globale International Girls’ School, Dehradun, GEMS Modern Academy, Dubai, Woodstock School, Mussoorie, Unison World School, The Asian School, Doon Heritage School, Himjyoti School, Dehradun, Harbilas Goyal Inter College, Ujjhani, Badaun (UP), and Andro High School, Manipur, took part in the tournament.
