DEHRADUN, 4 Feb: On the occasion of World Wetlands Day, the Department of Zoology with NCC unit of Dolphin (PG) Institute of Biomedical and Natural Sciences organised a Field Visit and Awareness Programme at Asan Wetland, here, today.
Students of the Department of Zoology, Agriculture, Horticultural, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, along with the cadets of NCC, participated in the programme.
Dr Been Joshi Bhatt gave a brief lecture about the importance of Asan wetland and its birds. Dr DK Bhardwaj and Dr Shalini Anand provided information about the problems caused due to the anthropogenic activities at Asan Wetland. Pankaj Gusain, Care Taker of the NCC unit, gave insight into cleanliness of the wetland. In his guidance the students actively took part in the “Swachhta Hi Sewa” programme. The students enjoyed the bird watching and also tried to clear the wetland of plastic waste.
