Haridwar, 31 Jul: Senior Mahamandaleshwar of Juna Akhara, Swami Yatindranand Giri, has welcomed the verdict of the special NIA court acquitting all accused in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Purohit. Calling the decision a “victory of truth and dharma”, he said the judgment has laid to rest the politically motivated bogey of “saffron terrorism”, which, he alleged, was fabricated with malicious intent by the then Congress-led government.

Speaking in a video message today from Haridwar, Swami Yatindranand Giri said that the court has delivered justice at last. The decades-old lie called ‘saffron terror’ has collapsed under the weight of truth. This verdict is not merely a legal relief to the innocent; it is a moral vindication of Sanatan Dharma and its values. Saints, sages, and nationalists were defamed in an orchestrated conspiracy, but justice has now triumphed.

However, he also expressed deep anguish over the inordinate delay in delivering justice. He added that it is unfortunate that it took seventeen long years for this decision. Sadhvi Pragya and Lt Col Purohit had to endure years of mental, physical, and emotional agony and physical torture due to a narrative built on deceit. They were falsely framed in the name of communal politics, while the real culprits remained untouched.

Swami Yatindranand Giri further said that the attempt to associate India’s ancient spiritual traditions and cause disrepute to Sanatan Dharma by falsely associating it with terror is not only a grave injustice to individuals but a direct assault on the fabric of the nation. Those who labelled sages and soldiers as terrorists must now introspect and apologise to the nation. History will remember this episode as a dark chapter in Indian democracy.

Meanwhile, some other spiritual figures including Acharya Mahamandaleshwar Avadheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara have also welcomed the verdict. Avadheshanand Giri of Juna Akhara also termed it a “moral cleansing of Indian politics”, stating that no political narrative can ever extinguish the eternal flame of Sanatan Dharma. Swami Parmatmanand Saraswati, another prominent saint, said that the judgment has once again proven that India’s judiciary, despite pressures, stands by truth and dharma.
