BJP observes Yoga Day across U’khand at Mandal level

Dehradun, 21 Jun: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today celebrated the 12th International Yoga Day across Uttarakhand with widespread public participation, joining the nationwide and global observance. At the state party headquarters in Dehradun and at the mandal level, the party workers, office bearers and the citizens collectively practised yoga, spreading the message of ‘Healthy India, Strong India’. Various senior party office bearers led Yoga sessions at different places across the state today.

State BJP President and Rajya Sabha member Mahendra Bhatt, led the Yoga Session in Gopeshwar. Addressing participants after the yoga session, Bhatt said that Yoga is the priceless heritage of India’s ancient rishi tradition. It is not merely physical exercise but a scientific method of balancing body, mind and soul, inspiring a disciplined and positive life. He also emphasised that, in today’s fast‑paced world, yoga is essential for mental peace and physical well‑being. Praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision and leadership, Bhatt said it was due to his efforts that yoga has gained global recognition, with the United Nations unanimously adopting the proposal for International Yoga Day. He added that the celebration of the 12th edition of this global festival is proof that millions across the world have made yoga the foundation of their healthy lives.

Bhatt participated in a grand yoga session at Gopeshwar in Chamoli district, where he joined townspeople, youth and party workers in collective practice and pranayama, raising awareness about yoga. At the same time, BJP State general secretary Kundan Parihar participated in the programme at Rishikesh Yoga Ashram, whereas the party general secretary Deepti Rawat joined the Yoga session in Purola (District Uttarkashi), and state media in‑charge Manveer Chauhan took part in the yoga session at the Yamunotri temple premises.

At the BJP state headquarters in Dehradun, the party workers also performed yoga under the leadership of office secretary Jagmohan Rawat, with senior party functionaries and government representatives present. Among those who participated were state co‑media in‑charge Rajendra Negi, Geeta Ram Gaur, Dr CN Ravi, Vijay Rawat, Harish Chamoli, Vishwajit Negi, Mahavir Panwar, Bhajram Panwar and Himanshu Rawat.
