Kotdwar, 18 Jun: On the occasion of the upcoming International Day of Yoga, to be celebrated on 21 June, a yoga practice and yoga mat distribution programme was organised today in the auditorium of K Pride Mall, here.
The event was led by Assembly Speaker and Kotdwar MLA Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, who participated in a collective yoga session along with local residents.
Addressing the gathering, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan highlighted the significance of yoga and its numerous health benefits. She stated that yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient culture and knowledge tradition. She noted that, due to the continuous efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has gained global recognition, and the International Day of Yoga is now celebrated enthusiastically across the world.

She emphasised that yoga not only promotes physical well-being but also brings mental peace and balance to life. According to her, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga is becoming an integral part of people’s daily lives and is playing a significant role in building a healthier India. She added that many countries around the world have adopted yoga and are benefiting from its positive impact.
During the programme, yoga mats were distributed among participants, and they were encouraged to practice yoga regularly. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan appealed to residents to actively participate in the yoga events being organised on 21 June. She said that, if citizens make yoga a part of their daily routine, it will further strengthen the vision of a healthy and empowered India.
The event was attended by several dignitaries and local residents, including Raj Gaurav Nautiyal, Prema Khantwal, Ashish Rawat, Vikasdeep Mittal, Saurav Naudiyal, Rajendra Bisht, Simran Bisht, Santa Bamrada, Rajesh Devrani, Mohan Singh Negi, Beena Rawat, and yoga instructor Rakesh Kandwal, among many other distinguished citizens and residents of the region.
