Roorkee, 28 Jun: Addressing the youth of the state at the “Yuva Shakti Samvad”, here, today, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that the youth of Uttarakhand are the foundation of the bright future of the state and the nation. He said that today India is the youngest country in the world and the energy, innovation, and talent of the youth are the greatest strength in building a developed India.
The Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, many historic initiatives have been taken to promote education, skills, innovation, and self-employment, considering the youth not as a vote bank but as the strongest pillar of a developed India. He said that initiatives like Startup India, Standup India, Digital India, Skill India, Khelo India, and the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana are playing a vital role in making the youth self-reliant and job creators.

The Chief Minister said that the state government’s goal is to create an Uttarakhand where youth do not have to migrate for opportunities, but instead have ample opportunities for employment, enterprise, and innovation within their own state. He stated that initiatives such as the Chief Minister’s Self-Employment Scheme, the Youth Promotion Scheme, the Deendayal Upadhyaya Scheme, the One District-Two Products Scheme, and the “House of the Himalayas” initiatives are providing national and global recognition to local products and youth. Initiatives such as the State Millet Mission, the Apple Mission, the Kiwi Mission, the new tourism policy, homestays, Wed in Uttarakhand, and solar self-employment are also creating new employment opportunities.
The Chief Minister stated that as a result of the state government’s effective policies, Uttarakhand’s unemployment rate has declined by 4.4 percent, which is better than the national average. Furthermore, Uttarakhand ranks first in the country in the NITI Aayog’s Sustainable Development Index. He stated that a positive environment for reverse migration is now developing in the state, and youth are returning to Uttarakhand with their experience and skills, promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship.
The Chief Minister stated that the state government is fully committed to protecting the interests of the youth. He said that due to the country’s strictest anti-cheating law implemented in Uttarakhand, transparency has been ensured in competitive examinations and in the last four and a half years, more than 33 thousand youth have got appointment in government services through a fair and transparent process.
He said that work is being done rapidly towards the establishment of 20 model colleges in the state, construction of women’s hostels, modern IT labs, examination buildings and strengthening the infrastructure of higher education, along with the establishment of new colleges. In the last four and a half years, more than 20 thousand new industries have been established in the state, due to which new employment and investment opportunities have developed.
The Chief Minister urged the youth to set big goals, embrace innovation, and move forward with confidence. He stated that the state government stands with them every step of the way to realise their dreams. He expressed confidence that the youth of Uttarakhand will play a crucial role in making the state a leading and best state in the country through science, technology, research, and innovation.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami directly interacted with the youth at the “Yuva Shakti Samvad” programme and provided simple, clear, and concise answers to their various questions. Bhunesh Goyal asked the first question in the programme. He sought information regarding the government’s schemes for youth empowerment, security, and their participation in governance.
The Chief Minister stated that Roorkee is a land of science, research, and innovation. Welcoming all the talented youth present at the “Yuva Samvad” programme, he stated that the state government is continuously striving to connect youth with employment and self-employment. Startups are being encouraged and financially supported, and various self-employment schemes are being effectively implemented. He said that the strict anti-cheating law implemented by the state government has brought transparency to recruitment processes, and over 33,000 youth have been appointed to government services so far.
Riya Vandana asked about the government’s action plan to combat rumours and misinformation spreading through social media.
The Chief Minister said that today, social media has become a highly effective medium of mass communication. Any information can reach millions of people in a matter of moments. Earlier, people had to rely primarily on newspapers and television for news, whereas today, everyone can directly reach the public. He said that the cyber cell is actively working to effectively monitor the misuse of social media, and strict legal action is being taken against those who spread rumours and attempt to disrupt social harmony.
Sonalika asked about preparations for the Kumbh Mela to be held in 2027.
The Chief Minister said that the state government is working tirelessly to ensure that the 2027 Kumbh Mela is divine, grand, safe, and well-organised. For this, extensive arrangements are being made for crowd management, traffic management, construction and expansion of various ghats, and safety of devotees. He informed that during the Kumbh Mela, drone and artificial intelligence (AI) based surveillance system will also be ensured using modern technology.
