Dehradun, 21 Nov: HaritaDhara Research Development and Education Foundation (HRDEF) organised a free workshop on Food, Sustainability, and Climate Action – Designathon – to provide wings to the imagination of youth during Children’s Day celebrations. They learned, worked on various issues related to food and climate change. Further, children designed and developed models on topics such as terrace gardening, roof garden, vertical garden, transportation of food, composting in waste plastic bottles, renewable energy and food. Young scientists shared their viewpoint on how food would be available to all in the future.
The children presented their projects in a creative and innovative way. Designathon is a global event in which children from 40 countries participated. They used waste materials, and some electronics to showcase technological solutions to food problems. There is a clear link between climate change and food, thus requiring more climate action by each one. Vegetarian food being better than non-vegetarian food, discarding single use plastics, and stopping wastage of food are some important lessons learned at the workshop.
Dr Manisha conducted sessions on food and climate action. Anant Bhaskar Garg talked about food, sustainability, and guided children.
Today, Anant and Dr Manisha delivered sessions on Disaster Reduction, Climate Action and Sustainable Development (SDGs) at GGIC, Rajpur Road as part of 24 Hours of Reality: Truth into Action celebration worldwide. Previously, a small group comprising of Anant, Manisha, Prayanshi from HRDEF was selected for India International Science Festival (IISF), 2019 at Kolkata in three different events of NSTC, Nav Bharat Nirman.
The events were coordinated by Dr Manisha with efforts from Vijay, Suman, Prayanshi, Kajal, Vijay, Deepak, Sonu, Roshan, Rohit, Danish, Sweety, and Shivani to make this memorable.
