10 fake ‘babas’ arrested under “Operation Kalnemi”

Dehradun, 30 Jul: Police arrested 10 fake babas from different police station areas of Dehradun on Wednesday. The arrested accused include people from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Karnataka, and Uttarakhand. Out of the 10 arrested, 7 are from outside the state.

According to the police, these people were roaming around dressed as baba and fakirs. They used to fool people by talking about religion and promised to solve their personal problems. In return, they demanded money and other things from them.

The SSP, Dehradun, had given strict instructions to all police stations to take action against such frauds.

The police said that these fake babas were playing with people’s religious beliefs and taking advantage of their faith.

The arrested babas have been identified as Pramod Singh, son of Makrand Singh, resident of Baikuntha Siyathu, Thana Dola, Lakhimpur Kheri, Uttar Pradesh; Soni Singh, wife of Pramod Singh; Abhay Nath, son of Hori Lal, resident of village Malawa, Thana Malawa, Hardoi, Uttar Pradesh; Dinesh Kumar Das, son of late Baisakhi Das, resident of village Bhagwanpur, Thana Sanhita, District Bhagalpur, Bihar; Sanjay, son of Paluram, resident of village Garh Sanai, Thana Sector 13/17 Panipat, District Panipat, Haryana; Anil Kumar, son of Santlal, resident of Mohalla Hansi, Tehsil Hansi, District Hisar, Haryana; N Ajit Kumar, son of M Nagarajan, resident of Bangarapet, Thana Bangarapet Kolar Gold Field, District Kolar, Karnataka; Ashok Kumar, son of Jagan, resident of Gali No. 3, Turner Road, Ram Mandir, Clement Town, Dehradun; Balwant Baba, son of Sevashish, resident of Rodi Belwala, Haridwar; and Mayank Kumar Joshi, son of Harish Chandra Joshi, resident of village China, Dharanaula, Almora.
