Rishikesh, 30 Jul: In a tragic late-night accident on the Rishikesh-Delhi National Highway, a truck and a trailer collided near the RTO’s office, and both vehicles caught fire after the crash. Sadly, both drivers died on the spot, and three others were seriously injured.
The accident occurred around 2 a.m. when a truck carrying a boring machine rammed into a stationary trailer parked on the roadside. The impact of the crash was so intense that the truck immediately burst into flames.
Local people informed the police and SDRF. Soon after, police and SDRF teams reached the spot and started the rescue operation. Fire brigade vehicles also arrived and managed to control the fire after a lot of effort.
The rescue team pulled out the three injured persons and rushed them to the hospital. It was very difficult to remove the bodies of the two drivers due to the fire.
Police are now investigating the cause of the accident. The incident created panic in the area during the night.
