10-member Nepal team keen to forge ties, meets CM

DEHRADUN, 3 May:10-member high level delegation from Nepal’s Sudur-Pashchim province, led by its Chief Minister Kamal Bahadur Shah called on Chief Minister Dhami at his residence here on Saturday. The discussions during the meeting mainly focused on strengthening India-Nepal relations and enhancing cooperation in border areas.
Both leaders deliberated on accelerating development projects in border districts through mutual coordination, fostering cultural and religious ties, promoting tourism, and improving disaster management strategies. Dhami emphasised that Uttarakhand and Nepal share a deep-rooted social and cultural heritage, with centuries-old historical connections. He assured full support from the Uttarakhand government for collaborative efforts in trade, health, education, and infrastructure development in the border regions.
The Nepalese delegation included Minister Veer Bahadur Thapa, members Ghanshyam Chaudhary, Naresh Kumar Shahi, Jhapat Bahadur Saud, Sher Bahadur Bhandari, Chief Secretary Kamal Prasad Pokharel Sharma, Secretary Surat Kumar Bam, and Political Advisor Jitendra Upadhyay.
On behalf of the state government, Principal Secretary RK Sudhanshu and Secretary Vinod Kumar Suman were also present during the meeting.
It may be recalled that the delegation had arrived in Dehradun on Friday and had held a meeting with Forest and Technical Education Minister Subodh Uniyal at Institute of Hotel Management here. Talks were held between the CM of Sudur Prant, Shah and Cabinet Minister Subodh Uniyal on tourism and hospitality sectors. The Tourism Secretary was also present on the occasion.
