1425 Constables join U’khand Police, CM hands over appointment letters

Dehradun, 6 Jun: As many as 1425 successful candidates who qualified their recruitment tests and the following medical tests were appointed as Constables in the Uttarakhand Police today.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami personally handed over the appointment letters to 55 candidates during a special programme held at the Police Lines here. Appointment letters were provided today to all 1425 candidates selected for the Constable, District Police, Constable PAC/IRB and Firemen’s posts. The Chief Minister said that the new recruitment process will also start soon on the remaining 1550 vacant posts of police constables.

On this occasion, the CM congratulated all the candidates who received the appointment letters and their parents. He said that the energetic young men and women from the state will become an integral part of the police as constables in different cadres in the districts and PAC units of the state with effect from today. Dhami asserted that the police constables are the primary unit of the force, who are deployed at various police stations and intersections. He hoped that these police constables would perform their duties with hard work, dedication and honesty. The CM said that the police system is an essential part of the security and prosperity of any state. Uttarakhand Police has always been devoted to its work and, even at special times, whether it was the Covid pandemic or natural calamities. The Police force has performed well in every adverse situation.

The CM pointed out that, according to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the state government is determined to make the Uttarakhand Police a modern and smart force. Uttarakhand Police has created a unique identity for itself through its friendly attitude, service and security. The Police have to perform special duties in the state every year. Pilgrims and tourists more than five times the state’s population visit Uttarakhand every year for the Char Dham and other pilgrimages and tourism. The friendly Police personnel of Uttarakhand Police are discharging their duties by managing such huge crowds with full readiness and willingness.

Dhami added that a very strict anti-copying law has been implemented to ensure conduct of recruitment competitions with full transparency in the state. After the implementation of this law, till now, all the examinations have been conducted safely in a transparent manner. The provisions of this law have been made so strict that no rigging mafia will be able to play with the future of the youth.

Director General of Police Ashok Kumar added that fresh recruitment to the post of Constables has been completed after a gap of about seven years. Their training would start immediately. All these constables would be given technical training along with general training. He revealed that, at present, the recruitment process is underway for a total of 538 posts for posts of Chief Constable, Telecom, Sub-Inspector, and for the Forensic Science Laboratory in the Police Department.

Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, while congratulating all the candidates selected as constables, noted that these youths are getting a golden opportunity to serve the people. She said that the police have a big role in taking society in the right direction while maintaining good behaviour.

Mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama, MLA Vinod Chamoli, Additional Director General of Police Abhinav Kumar and senior police officers were also present on the occasion.
