Dehradun, 22 Apr: Two Scouts of Rajiv Gandhi Navodaya Vidyalay, Dehradun, have been selected to participate in the 24th World Scouts Jamboree to be held on 2 August at West Virginia in North America, out of the five scouts selected to represent India. The two Scouts from this school are Abhay Chowdhary and Prashant Malik. It represents a proud moment for the school as well as Uttarakhand.
To mark the event and encourage other Scouts and Guides of the school, a special function was organised in the school premises by the in-charge of Scouts and Guides, Dr Sushil Rana, at which Brig KG Behl (Retd), former Dy Surveyor General, Survey of India, was invited as the Chief Guest. It was presided over by Principal Dr Sanjiv Sundriyal along with Vice Principal Dr Meena Kala. Guard Capt Narmada Parsvan and other teachers were also present.
After unfurling the Scouts and Guides Flag, and prayers, Dr Rana spoke about the selection and how proud they were. Brig Behl was taken around and introduced to all the Scouts and Guides, individually, who wished them greater success in life. Brig Behl congratulated the two selected scouts and the school authorities for their training which helped in their excellent performance and selection. He pointed out that for such a performance one needed patience, courage, dedication and determination.
The Vice Principal proposed a vote of thanks and the Principal honoured the Chief Guest.
