‘22nd Run for the Nation’ held in Mussoorie

Mussoorie, 12 Aug: The ‘22nd Run for the Nation’ cross-country race was organised at Kellogg Chowk, Landour Cantt, today, under the joint aegis of Mussoorie Sports and Cultural Committee and Rotary Club Mussoorie in which 380 runners from Wynberg Allen School, Guru Nanak School, Woodstock School, Hampton Court School, Mussoorie Public School, St Clair, Nirmala Inter College, RN Bhargava Inter College, Ghanananda Inter College, ITBP, St Lawrence School, Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Sanatan Dharm Inter College, Hilbert School, Mussoorie Saraswati Shishu Mandir schools participated in the race. Eighteen teams participated in the race organised in 10 categories.

On this occasion, Chief Guest Brigadier Ravi Dimri honoured the children by awarding them prizes. Anita Mahendru, ITM Executive Director and Deputy Commandant Purohit flagged off the race. Former Rotary Club President Manoranjan Tripathi said that, like every year, this year too the 12th Run for Nation was organised by MSCA and Rotary Club with the objective that children from both Hindi and English medium schools can get acquainted with each other and children from all schools can run in different categories at one level and can evaluate their level and improve it.

PTI Samuel Chandra said that nowadays children are spending their time on mobiles and social media due to which they are neither able to develop intellectually nor physically. The sports competitions being organised from time to time in Mussoorie are providing children platforms according to their skills due to which they are improving their skills and are succeeding in participating in regional, national and international competitions.

In the under 10 boys’ category, Karan Veer Negi of Wynberg Allen got first place, Suraj Kumar of Oakgrove School, second, and Avden Pawar of St Clare’s School, third. In the under 10 girls’ category, Bhitari Panwar of Sanatan Dharm Inter College got first place, Aamsha Rawat of St Clare’s School, second, and Yashvi Sona of Wynberg Allen School, third. In the under 14 boys’ category, Shubham Raj of St Lawrence School came first, Rohan of St Lawrence School, second, and Sagar Prasad of St Clare’s School, third. In the under 14 girls’ category Sonia Melwan of Nirmala Inter College secured first position, Dwika Jain of Weinberg Allen School, second, and Isha of Sanatan Dharm Inter College, third. In the under 16 boys’ category Armaan of Wynberg Allen School secured first position, Ahiwak Rathi of Wynberg Allen School, second, and Divyansh Negi of Ghanananda Inter College, third. In the under 16 girls’ category, Anisha of Nirmala Inter College secured first position, Saanvi Nayak of Wynberg Allen School, second, and Durga Upadhyay of Sanatan Dharma Inter College, third.

In the under 19 boys’ category, Sanchit Telwal of Wynberg Allen School secured first position, Sanjeev Kumar of RN Bhargava Inter College, second, and Kartik Rupani of Wynberg Allen School, third. In the under 19 girls’ category, Monika Ramola of Sanatan Dharm Inter College secured first position, Aayushi of Nirmala Inter College, second, and Anchal Rana of Nirmala Inter College, third. In the open men’s category, Manish Kumar of Crossfit secured first place, Jaspreet Singh of ITBP, second, and Surjeet Kumar of ITBP, third. In the open women category, Priyanka Ramola of Sanatan Dharm Inter College secured first place, Jyoti Ramola of Barlowganj, second, and Ganga Singla of MSCA, third.
On this occasion, Rotary Club President Sanjay Jain, Director Rajat Agarwal, Chairman Manoranjan Tripathi, Shailendra Karnawal, Mussoorie Sports and Cultural Committee President Surendra Rana, Secretary Sameer Raina, Arvind Sonkar, Parvinder Rawat, Samuel Chandra, Amit Kendura, Narendra Padiyar, Ganga Singhal, Pushpa Padiyar, Deepak Agarwal, Renu Jain, Udit Shah, Sunil Panwar, Dhirendra Negi, Saqib and others were among those present.
