53 Assistant Commandants join mainstream of ITBP

Mussoorie, 26 Apr: Fifty-three young Assistant Commandants joined the mainstream of the Indo Tibetan Border Police force upon completing rigorous training of 25 weeks. Fifty-two are Officers of the Medical Cadre and 1 belongs to the JAG Cadre.

On this occasion the Ceremonial Parade was held at the Parade Ground of ITBP Academy, here, where these new officers took an oath to dedicate themselves to the service of the nation. During their arduous training, these officers were given training in various Military and Police related subjects like Tactics, Weapon Handling. Physical Training, Intelligence, Field Engineering, Map Reading, Military Administration, Law and Human Right related issues. This batch comprises 8 officers, each, from Kerala and Rajasthan, 5 from Tamil Nadu, 4 from Uttar Pradesh, 3 each from Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Delhi & Manipur, 2 each from Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Telangana, Puducherry and 1 each from Bihar, Assam, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Rahul Rasgotra, Director General, ITBP, the Chief Guest on the occasion, took the salute and reviewed the Ceremonial Parade. In his address, the Chief Guest congratulated the Officers who have passed out from the Academy. He reminded them about the glorious history and very high standards of discipline of the Force. He stated that ITBP is deployed in extremely harsh terrain with border out posts at altitudes as high as 19,000 ft. where the temperature dips down to minus 45 degrees. Apart from guarding the high-altitude borders in the Himalayas, the Force is present in Internal Security, Disaster Management or any other duties.

Rasgotra added that the people of border states have great expectations of these young officers and advised that, after passing out from this Academy, they should take profound experience of operational areas, especially the Border Out Posts, and help border villages and the local populace in developmental activities, medical treatment and uplift of their living standards. He also congratulated the trainee officers who were assessed as best in different subjects and honoured them with Winners’ Trophies.

On this occasion, DG Rahul Rasgotra also released the E-Amogh booklet on the journey of the above course, which has been collected so far.

AC/MO Tavishi Koyarh was declared Best Overall and Best Indoor Trainee, and AC/MO Dharmendra Singh Gobari as Best Outdoor Trainee.

PS Dangwal, Director, ITBP Academy, welcomed and felicitated the Chief Guest and all the invitees, including retired and serving officers of ITBP and other forces, officers of the local administration, distinguished public representatives and other dignitaries. He thanked them for gracing the occasion and spoke about the force and its achievements. He assured the DG-ITBP that these young officers will give their best and selfless service in the border areas of the state and the nation.

Rajesh Sharma, DIG/Dy Director (Trg), ITBP Academy, proposed the vote of thanks. He highlighted the important facets of training imparted to these passing out officers during this foundation course and assured the commitment of Academy to keep the standard of training high as ever. On this occasion, senior officers of the Academy Ajay Pal Singh, DIG/ Dy Director (Admn), Shobhan Singh Rana, Commandant Admn) and Jiju S, Commandant (Trg), were also present. The function concluded with the thrilling and enchanting demonstrations and Band Display by the Himveers.
