Dehradun, 6 Jun: The state government has recently upgraded 58 police stations across Uttarakhand to Kotwali status. Along with this, 58 sub-inspectors have also been promoted to the rank of Inspector.
However, these newly upgraded Kotwalis are still being handled by sub-inspectors. This has raised the question: when will inspectors officially take charge of these Kotwalis?
In response, IG Garhwal Rajeev Swaroop said that the matter is under process. “We are reviewing the situation, and inspectors will be assigned to the Kotwalis as soon as possible,” he added.
With the latest upgrade, the total number of Kotwalis in the state has reached 112, covering all major cities.
In Dehradun district, the following police stations have been upgraded to Kotwali: Nehru Colony, Rishikesh, Raiwala, Ranipokhri, Sahaspur, Kalsi, Premnagar, and Chakrata.
