Dehradun, 19 Jan: The Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board has declared the final examination results for 73 vacant posts of Pharmacists under the Department of Medical Education, selecting a total of 64 eligible candidates.

The results for 8 posts have been withheld in compliance with the orders of the High Court. Minister, Medical Health and Medical Education, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, congratulated all the selected candidates and extended his best wishes.

The Medical Education Minister stated that the State Government had decided to fill vacant posts of Pharmacists in Government Medical Colleges and their affiliated hospitals. Accordingly, a requisition for filling 73 vacant posts of Pharmacists was sent by the department to the Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board. In pursuance of this requisition, the Selection Board issued a recruitment advertisement on 19 October, 2024, for filling these posts through direct recruitment.

Applications received from candidates were verified in a phased manner. Thereafter, on the basis of year-wise merit, the Selection Board selected 64 eligible candidates against the 73 vacant posts and declared the final examination results. The results for 8 posts have been stayed due to a writ petition filed before the High Court. In addition, one advertised post under the Scheduled Caste category for Uttarakhand State Movement Activists or their dependants has been carried forward due to non-availability of an eligible candidate.

Dr Rawat stated that the selected Pharmacists will be posted in Government Medical Colleges across the state at the earliest, and necessary instructions in this regard have already been issued to the departmental officials.

The Minister congratulated the newly selected pharmacists and expressed hope that their appointment will bring greater transparency in medicine management and distribution in Medical Colleges, and ensure easy availability of medicines to patients in hospitals.
