Elephant found dead in suspicious circumstances near Gadarpur

Rudrapur, 22 Feb: An elephant has died under suspicious circumstances in the Gadarpur area of Udham Singh Nagar district. The carcass was found near Tilpuri village under the Pipalpadao Range of the Terai Central Forest Division. Upon receiving information about the incident, the officials from the forest department immediately reached the spot and launched a detailed inquiry into the matter. The exact cause of the elephant’s death has not yet been ascertained. According to the officials, the real reason will only be known after the post-mortem report is received.

The villagers in Tilpuri village in Gadarpur discovered a wild elephant lying dead near the village and they promptly informed the forest department about the incident. Under the direction of Divisional Forest Officer Ramesh Chandra Tiwari, a departmental team reached the site without delay and began inspection of the scene.

DFO Ramesh Chandra Tiwari shared with the media that the preliminary information suggests that the elephant’s death occurred under suspicious circumstances. However, it is yet to be determined whether the death was due to natural causes or any other reason. The Forest Department team has collected evidence from the site and is conducting a thorough examination of the surrounding area. The officials also stated that a post-mortem of the elephant will be conducted, and only after the report is received will the actual cause of death be established.

Following the incident, the forest department has appealed to residents of adjoining villages to remain vigilant and avoid venturing into the forest alone. A forest team is maintaining continuous surveillance in the area to prevent any untoward incident. At present, the Forest Department is investigating the matter with due seriousness, and further action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received.
